Club Night.

Posted by Daniel on Monday 12th of March 2012 08:35:03 PM

Tuesday Night 7:30pm the March club night will be held at the Papanui R.S.A., 55 Bellvue Avenue, Papanui. We're looking to keep business short and to the point then let beverages loosen tongues and the BS stories flow.

The Committee have a proposal for the temporary replacement of the CORC president.
Some limited discussions in terms of the ORANZ censure letter and response.
The March club Day
... The Mainland Challenge / Southern Series Event

If travelling North on Papanui Road from the city, when you get to the Northlands Mall end, turn left onto Harewood Road, then it's pretty much sharp left at the end of the row of shops (if you hit the railway line you have gone too far)

Just meet in the bar, as the room we have booked will become available about 7:35pm.

Rolson Tools, South Island Series

Posted by Daniel on Sunday 13th of November 2011 01:28:40 PM

FINAL RESULTS

With skilful driving and faultless preparation Wayne Moriarty drove his Class 3 Super 1600 to a convincing Victory in the Final Rolson Tools South Island series Round. Hamish Lawler was the runner up although all weekend he chased an electrical or fuel problem that prevented him driving the Class 10 to its full potential but enabled him to score enough points for second overall. Third overall was Bruce rolls with his super 1600. He had a very good weekend but was just not quite as fast as Moriarty. Consistency during the season enabled him to gain enough points to become third overall.

Class 1
Won by Geoff Densem with a solid final round. The favourite Daniel Powell had the power and speed but unfortunately crashed out in the first endurance race on Sunday ending his series.

Class 2 Pro Trucks was won by Steven Boyd who’s little giant killing Suzuki was outclassed buy the Mitsubishi truck of Ian Simcox. Unfortunately  Simcox, due to a major accident at this meeting last year,  had not raced all season and was unable to gain enough points at this meeting to overtake Boyd. Wait till next season.

Class 3 Super 1600
Provided some of the closest racing all season but with only three competitors at the final and the faultless run by Moriarty this title was his for another season.

Class 4 Supertrucks
Always provide great racing and this year was no different. Unfortunately reliability seems to let competitors down and it comes down to who keeps going longest. This year Paul Milne was the winner but no credit can be taken from him as he raced hard all season for this title.

Class 5 Super 1500 went to Clint Densem who was the only class 5 competitor this season.

Class 6
Not raced in the South Island until the final and Neville Taylor from Nelson turned up with his recently purchased Mitsubishi to turn on a show for the public by racing with class 4 and 8 and winning his class.

Class 8 Thunder Trucks
Won by Bryan Chang with his GT Radial Tyres Ford Falcon Ute. His win was made easier by the absence of Donald Preston but as this is a series and you need points at all rounds to win Chang showed reliability and attendance all season to gain his popular win.

Class 10
The small motorcycle engine powered off roaders always bat above their size and this season Hamish Lawler proved that by not only taking out the South Island Class 10 trophy but also in winning both endurance races on Sunday.

Challenger Class 1600 VW
The most competitive class in our sport due to the strict control on chassis and engine proved once again to be a very closs competition with Terry Munro maintaining his slim lead over Barry Phillips to take the prize.
